doirnini iontach, agus leath-leisciuil

ESI grips felt pretty damned good this morning. nice and comfy. was a good ride in. bitched out on the 40 degrees and raining ride home, because a ride was offered from my pops in his new truck. i haden't ridden in it yet, so i of course took the ride just to make him happy.... of course.

Tearing Down The Wall begins tomorrow. The Wall being a steep as hell, technical, and of course washed out trail and an eyesore. we've got a three part planned singletrack reroute that will be swoopy and fun and technical enough tokeep the dream alive.

b'feidir, deanfidh me e seo an geimhreadh seo chuggain...

an 3u la, deanta.

three days in and i'm still sticking to the plan. commuted in and out, with a hard effort 8 mile mtb mid ride home via a longer route. really didn't have the power i was hoping for on the ride home, but oh well, i did it nonetheless. easy commute tomorrow, then easy spin friday after work.

an dara la, criochnaithe.

my commute home was great. some kid yelled faggot at me and i flipped him off. it was totally sweet. i'm sure it had something to do with my awesome, multi-pocketed, safety yellow reflective surveyors vest that i wear commuting. i get the funniest looks from other riders when i hit the trails on my ride home wearing it. they don't know what to think of me. i have a mesh one and a solid one, so that i can better accomodate my layers. fashion first, always fashion first.

amach an dorus agus ar mo bhealach.

day one of my la ruta training plan done and in the books. felt great, but bumbled through the rocks like a blind, three legged donkey trying to run backwards up the great pyramid of giza while simultaneously attempting to pin a tail to itself.

dha postanna i la amhain?!?!?!

fior e.

i'm almost done being sick. this is my last ditch effort la ruta training plan. something similar last year got me ready for 2 24 hr races in three weeks with 5 weeks of training, after several months entirely without riding. i've been riding though, so i'm in decent shape. my commute is 16 miles each way by road with about 1500' of climbin in, 1700' out.

week 1:
m- commute plus easy 15m mtb ride mid commute home.
t- commute
w- commute plus fast 8m mtb mid route home
t- commute
f- hours spin on road after work. no commute.
s- fast, 31 mile group mtb ride with quicker riders.
s- easy 15 mile mtb ride.

week 2:
m- commute + easy but nonstop 15m mtb ride mid commute home.
t- commute
w- commute + 1hr hill repeats mid commute home.
t- commute
f- hours light spin after work.
s- steady 6 hr ride.
s- steady 6 hr ride.

week 3:
m- nada, rest
t- commute
w- commute + 1hr hill repeats.
t- commute
f- commute
s- steady 6hr ride.
s- 30ish mile group ride. varying pace. sat and sunday could be switched.

week 4:
m- nada, rest
t- commute
w- commute
t- commute
f- nada, rest.
s- easy 3hr mtb.
s- flight

week 5(of race):
m- easy hour spin.
t- hour spin, few sprints.
w,t,f,s - race.

we'll see how quickly i botch this...

thainig uisce agus gaoithe as mo thoin.

ringwood? pplbbbbbbffffttttbbbttttt!!! racing? pplbbbbbbffffttttbbbttttt!!! no really. i've been making those sounds all morning, and for a good amount of last night. shits, but no giggles, achey joints, grogginess, dehydrated. figured it best not to even try. will have to see if rvcc will show me some love with my prereg. minus active.com's fee naturally. or maybe comp me for next year? i dunno. it's only $25. would have loved to race this course. off to the dollar store in a bit to get my food shopping done. after a visit to porcy my white friend who spits on my balls when i shit in her mouth...

riding to the dollar store didn't hurt nearly as much as riding back from it. might have something to do with the fact that it's all downhill to get there.

La Ruta de los Conquistadores

in a drunken, overly expectant(of my abilities) internet moment, i signed up for this race early this year. it is now at that moment where i need to make my decision. do i defer to next year, possibly losing 50% of my entry fee by the time i do so, or do i book the meager $350 airfare(round trip!!!), request a leave of absence for a week from work, and go ride till i fall over? i have 1.75 vacation days left at work, so i won't be getting paid while i'm down there. i am definitely not in the shape to be putting out a strong, continuous effort for 4 days straight. i am, however, confident in my ability to just grind through anything with dumb perseverance. i am in really good shape in general, and my riding is good enough to get through with frequent breaks. i speak a little spanish, and i would love to see costa rica. if i don't go, and defer to next year after the 100% cutoff, i lose around $500, at least. this is my dilema.

cupla phairt nua

thainig iad inne....

bonty race x lite tlr rims arrived yesterday. thinking i want to wait, and order some dt 240 hubs and alpine III spokes to lace them up. this, as opposed to lacing them up to the stock hubs that came on the rig. crossmarks should be arriving soon, and will be my tubeless setup till the bontrager xr-tlr tires are available.

dfl'd tymor sunday. that hill killed me. it's funny how fast one can be on a group ride, with the go/rest/go/rest pace, and with people of very varying abilities, yet all of a sudden i become a dead weight off the back when i have to maintain a steady, fast pace for a few hours non-stop. i guess i know which type of ride i'll be doing ALOT more of for next season. i also know that i will not be going to la ruta this year, but will have to defer to next year.
